Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Blower For The Price Purchased blower/vac from a friends recommendation and stihl’s reputation, tired of dragging cord around the yard and unable to blow all areas. Great blower so far, very dependable, could use a little more power but does the job. In the fall will give the vac a try when the leaves start falling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great machine I replaced a 2-stroke shredder vac I bought from a big box store. I had it for about 8 years and it still ran. But, the little things bothered me - the vacuum was anemic. the ergonomics of it sucked, it was hard to start, and changeover from vac to blower was tedious. The Stihl unit is infinitely better - always starts right up. Plus a couple of things I didn't count on:1) It's much quieter than my older unit2) Its exhaust (even while being 2-stroke) doesn't stink as much3) The conversion between shredder and blower is WAY easier and the ease of use (While in vacuum mode) is betterMy only complaint is the plastic impeller. Not a fan...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best shredder around! I have had the SH56 C-E for about 6 months now. As a shredder I have used it on one job. The leaves and other debris were chopped up very nicely and the collection bag was of good size. I bought a gutter kit at the same time and have used it twice. This thing has more than enough power for cleaning gutters. While using make sure you pay attention to the wind direction and do it often enough debris doesn't build up in the gutters!!!I have used this shredder as a blower to get rid of snow more than any other job. It works great for snow that is not too wet. I will be buying the nozzle that fans/narrows out at the bottom. Sure beats a shovel!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product, change a couple things. This blower/vac has some great things going for it. Starts super easy and is very user friendly. The SH-56 has the quality that Stihl is known for. The shredding blade on the impeller is the best I've seen in this level of shredder, big thumbs up for that. It will handle small twigs with ease and you don't need to worry about damaging the impeller. It has plenty of power although I wish it came with a funnel attachment for the end of the blower tube just for that extra kick of wind speed. I would only change a couple of things. First, I wish the throttle had a lock out so I didn't have to hold it down the entire time. Second, it needs to be a tool free switch from blower to vac and back. The way that the tubes attach is great and secure but you need a screw driver to take them off, just a slight inconvenience. I would recommend this product to any home owner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome machine I already owned a br 600 backpack blower. I bought this machine to vacuum leaves out of landscaping beds. Works awesome. Also kind of neat it changes to a blower my 72 year old mom can start it and blow patio and walkways off also. Nice little machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for home use. I love this blower/vac! I cleaned up the whole yard in about 30 minutes and all the leaves fit in two of the bags. One of the best tools I have ever purchased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy to start, easy to use, great for mulching. I recommend this product for anyone who has a fall leaf issue. Also a great blower.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from easy start good blower. terrible vacuum. I don't think a dust mask will do when you use this unit as a vacuum. It will cover you from head to toe in fine dust particles. I wanted strictly a vacuum. When I came across the 56 c I thought it was just that. After I made my purchase I quickly found out for the first time ever I did not like my Stihl product. It feels like they just quickly made a blower work as a vacuum. It feels all wrong to use as a vacuum ergonomically. Stihl need to go back to the drawing board on this one and make a vacuum only design. If i wanted dirt bath i would just roll around in the dirt not blow it up my nose.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Broken Vacuum accessory the first day Before I even had a chance to use it, the Vacuum tube was standing against my fence and blew over. The ring which attaches the vacuum tube to the motor broke. It was not a hard blow, but the ring is extremely fragile.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good not Amazing Not super powerful, but enough for basic needs. The vacuum is a bit slow/weak if you have a significant quantity of leaves. Bag fills up quick.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic product! Bought this to replace a lower quality blower vac and could not be happier. Reliable, starts very easily, solid product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poorly thought out. I'm a fan of Stihl, this one isn't cutting it though. First off, detaching and switching over from vac to blower is a huge pain and the whole system for doing so needs redesigned. Apparently you're supposed to be able to depress a plastic latch with a screwdriver or other object and release the vac or blower attachment. It doesn't work and it feels like you're going to break it every time. You basically depress the plastic tab and then kind of just man handle it u tip it comes off. If you are going to require a tool to do this, there are 100 better ways to set it up. The plastic cover that just freely dangles when the vac is attached is just asking to get caught on something and be broke off. It does seem fairly well attached, but it's something you have to constantly be aware of if you are using the vac around any bushes, porch, etc. Power is okay, but vacuum is very slow. For a consumer grade version I think it's adequate but not what I expected from Stihl. Blower is perfect. Plenty of power, works as intended. That's probably about all I'll be using it for considering the pain of switching attachments and how poorly the vac works.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best way to get quality leaf mulch After seeing a presentation of the value of chopped up leaves I purchased this unit. It works very well and will make fall leaf removal both easier and much more productive for my garden next springSince I already have blowers I will keep this hooked up as vacuum. Sthil only makes high quality equipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I had been using an electric blower. This has been an excellent upgrade. Starts up very easy. I get the job done in half the time. No more extension cords to work with. I also have a Stihl string trimmer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Quality engine, but has some shortcomings. I've been an economical consumer for my entire adult life. I'm able to service my own equipment so I've always been able to maintain the cheaper "Chinese" equipment for general home use; keeping the machines running until they inevitably just die. But I've been getting tired of tweaking here and adjusting there so I've begun my equipment swap out to an all-Stihl garage. This is my first Stihl machine. I absolutely adore that "Stihl" sound you get from these engines. It's like nothing else. Because I have so much experience with small equipment I'm able to really dial down what the strengths and weaknesses are of my machines rather quickly. Strengths:-This blower has sufficient power and blowing speeds for my use.-Quiet.-An engine that I know will last if cared for and when not run with ethanol-Comfortable weight.-Starts very easily. -Transparent fuel tank so I know what my levels are.-I love, love, LOVE (did I say love?) that I can change it up and make it into a vacuum so I can get the leaves in the areas behind shrubs and around my koi pond without struggling to blow them out otherwise.-The inside of the vac bag has a clever "deflection shield" as I call it which helps prevent the mulched debris from abrading the bag. Smooth!-I think Stihl new that the reduction ratio with the mulching blades would make for a heavy bag, so the straps are securely fastened to the bag with large stitching and reinforcements. Double smooth! -Oh those sharp little blades! The reduction of leaves is astounding. I'm dumbfounded how much material this thing mulches before the bag is full. Weaknesses:-Even my dealer couldn't figure out how to get the front black plastic blower pipe off when I was given my "demo." It's a finicky thing. We figured it out, but I wish I didn't need a tool to release the lock. It should be a push-button release.-There are no identifying marks to get the locking ring on to secure the pipe in place. Sure there is an arrow for where the pipe goes on, but not the ring. Maddening.-That little muffler is nowhere near as protected as it should be. I already burned my hand.-The "door" that must be opened (again, with a tool) to change the blower-to-a-vac is basically screaming "take me in the bushes so can get stuck on everything." Yup, it got stuck on the holly bushes and nearly broke off when I was vacuuming the leaves around them.-I wish the vacuum pipe was adjustable so I can move the angle of the mouth. I feel everyone will carry the machine a little differently. Apparently I do, because I can't quite get the opening to be flush with the ground for the best "suction." Maybe it's designed that way. I don't know.Over all a neat machine. It has it's place here in my garage regardless of the shortcomings.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from After six months Good concept, but has its limitations. I bought this as light duty blower and shredder for my landscaping business. It is six months old. First the cons. DO NOT buy the model with EZ recoil. After the guys stretched the internal spring 4 or 5 times, I coverted to the traditional recoil. Now it is durable! The other negative is the shredder has limitations. Not intended for big jobs or wet material, otherwise it works great. For the pros, light weight, agile, decent blower performance for a small package, great in small places, and reliable motor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I wish I'd tried thisblower 10 years ago, cuz I would've bought it then. I've only had the blower a few weeks and only used it a few times, but I love it. I've had electric blowers in the past, and most recently had a multi-head option for a gas powered weed eater that had a blower attachment. And while both the electric and multi-head option did fine, they pale in comparison to this unit. If I'd have tried this unit 10 years ago I would've saved my money and found a way to buy this. There are cheaper options, but they are also cheaper and inferior products. I have a large deck and a large driveway and I can clear/clean both in less than half the time. This Stihl just puts out so much more air volume than those other blowers I've owned and used in the past. I would recommend this to anyone. And I have!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Value for the price. My yard is about 1/2 acre and with a lot of trees, pecan and oak trees. With all the trees in my yard and so many leaves in the fall, I needed a good dependable leaf blower and vac. I researched them and talked to yard maintenance people about the equipment they use. Most used stihl products and were extremely satisfied. Stihl was what I purchased. I am extremely happy with it, so this year I purchased a stihl line trimmer, and am pleased with it. Stihl equipment is my choice for lawn tools from now on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works good Bought the shredder vacuum for my acre lot, not a lot of trees on it. Used it to pick up the leaves blown into the fence, worked perfectly. Went into the flower beds with mulch and leaves, works fine until you suck up big pieces of mulch. I jammed it a couple times, took the tube off removed the mulch and kept on going.Used it as a leaf blower works great, does what you expect it to do.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor product and poor service Bought this new in 2016, had trouble after four or five months. Problems with the unit stalling and restarting frequently experience. Took it to a dealer who tuned it up for about half the cost of a new one. Still ran poorly for several more months. Company would not Warrantee the product and can't buy another one from this company.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This thing is great I bought this blower vac this spring to clean up last leafs leaves. This machine will clog if you try to suck up too many wet leaves. So I had to scatter them with the blower configuration then after they had some time in the sun to dry this machine in the vacuum configuration easily sucked them all up. I have been very please with this machine. Sense the leave clean up it gets used once a week to clean off my patio and sidewalks. It so far has been very easy to start. I will update this review once the machine gets some age on it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great for snow and leaves. After trying to use a rechargeable leaf blower to move snow, which did not work as the battery got cold, we decided to use a Stihl leaf blower. I have used their chainsaw for years and it works great. This item was actually less expensive and we used the Moto Mix fuel in it which provides several advantages. First, the engine is protected by a longer warranty, it starts clean and runs great--every time, and the blower does not have an unpleasant gas smell. We store it inside, why walk through the snow to get to the garage, and we store it on a boot tray to catch any snow melt. It easily moves up to five inches (the most we have had at one time) of dry snow and I can clean off my back deck, front sidewalk, and most of my driveway in about 20 minutes. I can get about four uses out of one tank of fuel and the Moto Mix fills my tank two and half times. A great item that works excellently for moving snow. I cannot wait to use it in our flower beds and rock gardens to move leaves when it gets warmer.
