    STIHL ElastoStart™
The ElastoStart™ starter handle is an exclusive feature of STIHL. It is a starting grip with a built-in shock absorber that helps reduce the effort when pulling on the starter cord. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product This is my first Stihl product and it is definitely worth the investment. I only have 1/2 an acre, but I spend 2 full weekends raking leaves. This blower handled piles of leaves with ease.I rated the power a 4, only because I haven't used it with wet leaves yet. I'm certain it'll get the job done though.Overall, this product is easy to start, it is comfortable and easy to use. It may be a little more power than I need, but it sure makes life easier. I'd highly recommend this product to anyone looking to make leaf cleanup much easier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product!! The BR 430 is an amazing piece of equipment!! I have a 2 acre lot and this blower has plenty of power to move all of the unwanted leaves and debris. It is easy to start, usually takes 3 or so pulls from a cold start, and one pull if it is warmed up. I have noticed that the I "blow" through the gas pretty quick, but it is not really a flaw to me. Overall I am really happy that I bought this product and will continue to purchase STIHL products.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality equipment does the job after 60 days still starts quickly and does the job. Very good on gas usage

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So easy to start I have had a stihl hand held blower for years and just made the upgrade to the more powerful backpack blower, I'm very pleased with my decision to upgrade. This blower is very powerful and most importantly easy to start.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent product I have used multiple hand held units in the past. the BR430 is my first back pack style and I love it. clears debris from driveways and lawns effortlessly. The BR 430 has plenty of power and air flow to move even the heavier items my little hand held would not. should have purchased one years ago.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Power to spare Great blower, really clears out the wet matted down leaves that my old BackPack blower would leave behind, goes through gas a little quicker and is a little heavier, but always starts easily and gets the job done.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Power, Some Updates Needed As with all my Stihl products, this unit is well built, very reliable, and a good value. So, the pro's are in line with what you come to expect with Stihl. However, there are just a few minor design issues that need addressing before the unit could receive an excellent rating.a) The harness is designed for someone with broad shoulders. On a smaller person, the harness is constantly slipping off one shoulder or the other. I had to replace with another manufacturers harness to make it stay on.b) The OFF switch is very sensitive, and combined with the lock switch. Just slightly touching the switch will cause the unit to shut down. It's also easy to forget and push the switch down, thinking you're locking the speed, when in fact you're shutting it down.c) The fill cap for the gas tank is so low to the ground that it's difficult to fill when your gas can is full. You have to pick the blower up a foot, or put it on a higher surface to fill it. If your can is 1/2 full or less, not a problem. That's it. Still a great unit and a great value. Should last a long time and has plenty of power for nearly everyone's needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This blower is simply awesome. I Chose the BR 430 over the Br 350 as I like to have a little more power than I think I'll need. I made the right choice, as the power of this machine is awesome. It will even move bricks that outline my wife's flower beds. Starts on second pull of the starter cord every time. I cannot say enough about this blower!! Light enough for my wife to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One powerful blower!!! This thing is way too powerful for a blower!!! Besides Love it!
Date published: 2014-06-20
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very powerful I've only used hand-held blowers before, and there is just no comparison to the power of the BR-430. I'd like to be able to get a lower idle speed as it will blow away my pine nugget mulch even at idle. The shoulder straps could be improved. STIHL should just use the straps from the more expensive models that have better adjustability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product has great features The backpack 430 is lighter than most and is a powerful unit for it's size. I had a hand held before this one, it's a joy not carrying that around. It's quickness in starting and larger fuel tank gets my job done faster. The only thing I wished it had was a strap across the front so it was easier staying on even with the straps adjusted right the straps want to slide off. I'm a retired State veterans' Cemetery Supervisor and have tried a few different pieces of equipment over time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Plenty of power. Definately commercial grade... I purchased this for 1 1/2 acre wooded yard. I'm confidant the BR350 would have done it, but I don't regret getting this model. Always get a little more than what you think you may need. I'm usually a tight-wad, but Stihl WILL last. I probably would have given a 4 on the value, except for their current sale for this model. Would not hesitate to buy again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product, a little hard to start This is my first leaf blower and it's a great product. Very powerful, but i found it hard to start on occasion, especially after refilling the gas tank and pushing the bulb 5-10 times. Or I can get it started but it starts to sputter, I lightly pull the trigger and it completely dies. Eventually I will just let it sputter and then I pick up the blower, get it settled on my back and it seems to fire up much more reliably.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Stihl blower This Stihl BR 430 is a very powerful blower for its size and weight. It clears cut grass, leaves and even small stones and sticks easily. I purchased this blower because of its two cycle engine ( the same as my Stihl trimmer and chainsaw) the operation of the engine, uses the same stihl fuel mix, power, ease of use and anticipated long life. My last Stihl Blower lasted over 11 years of heavy use. This blower in my opinion is great for commercial and residental use. This is the best overal blower I have owned ! and my dealer Econ O Wise set everything up for me all I did was add the Gas.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great back pack blower for 1/2 acre up! This is my 1st backpack blower and is an incredible step up from a hand held. I just spent a few hours using this for the 1st time on my 0.8 acre property and I'm very satisfied with this blower. It moves a lot of leaves with ease and makes it easy to get yard debris out from under bushes. The easy-start feature makes it easy enough for my wife to start it even when on my back when I forget to start it before I put it on. The anti-vib feature is very nice for longer operation. The Stihl product reputation for quality and longevity is second to none and it shows. It does go through fuel, but it takes energy to move the amount of air this machine does. I chose the easy start feature over the more fuel efficient motor of the next model up blower because my wife will use this as well. The only thing missing (which is probably the same for all back pack blowers) is that it badly needs a sternum strap. Both my wife and I found that we had to use our left hand to hold the right shoulder strap on our shoulder after a few moments. This became a little tiring. My temporary solution is to used a short piece of rope tied through the shoulder strap front loops. I'm looking for an aftermarket sternum strap to use with this. I recommend you buy one that fits the shoulder straps before your 1st use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very dependable, smooth operation, work saver! This blower is the best! It starts easily and runs very smoothly with a great throttle. Great time saver, with plenty of wind velocity to move leaves, pine needles and debris.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great blower, starts easily and gets the job done fast We replaced an older Stihl 350 model backpack blower with this new one. With lots of oak trees dropping leaves all winter long, we needed something that would start dependably and be powerful enough to blow large piles of large leaves to the curb for county pickup. This blower gets the job done. We blow about 1/2 acre with many trees, not to mention the neighbors trees and we get it blown in about an hour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product works great - everything I expected - its hard to believe there are 2 more powerful blowers in your lineup I can't believe I waited a year to purchase this blower. Excellent product - I can take care of the leaves in 1/4 to 1/3 the time and do twice as good a job as in previous years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works Well worth the money and is powerful and easy to use

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Power to spare This is a machine that you need to have. I've cleared my yard of really wet leaves without any issues at all. Great gas consumption and I don't think it's all that heavy to pack around. I do wish the shoulder straps had a buckle to join them together at the chest as one or the other slips off on odd times.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The BR430 is the power I need I have a BG86 hand blower which has worked well, yet did not have the power to blow piles of leaves. The BR430 is new and has all the power I need. The BG86starts easily. The BR 430 is trickier in that once the engine is started, you have to reach over and nudge the throttle lever. If not quick enough, the engine quits and has to be restarted with a few pulls. While relatively new in usage, the BR430 was a good choice.
